CAISO, SPP and BC Hydro officials reassured FERC that the Western Interconnection’s transition from two reliability coordinators to five is going smoothly.

The key players in the Western reliability coordinator transition told WECC they’re on track to take over on a staggered timeline from July to December.

The Western Electricity Coordinating Council continued to deal with issues related to this year’s reliability coordinator transition at its board of directors meeting.

CAISO said it had finalized agreements to provide reliability coordinator services with 32 transmission operators and balancing authorities in the West.

FERC approved CAISO’s agreement for integrating Canadian power marketer Powerex into the EIM.

Powerex has signed an agreement with CAISO to become the first non-U.S. participant in the Western Energy Imbalance Market (EIM).
