Protesters climbed a large ladder and took up residence on the three-story awning over the main entrance of FERC headquarters, as the commission approved two more LNG export projects.

FERC closed its monthly open meeting to the public, allowing only guests, their staff and credentialed members of the press inside commission headquarters.

Protesters are descending on D.C. throughout this week to protest FERC and its approval of natural gas infrastructure projects.

Despite changing its meeting date to avoid threats of mass demonstrations next week, the FERC couldn’t avoid another protest drama Thursday.

About 10 protesters were led or carried out of the FERC open meeting today after defying the commission’s “no interruptions” rule with chants of “Stop construction at Cove Point!”
