CAISO's RC West operation has won NERC certification and is on track to begin serving balancing authorities in California and parts of Mexico on July 1.

A top official with Mexico’s CENACE told a Gulf Coast Power Association breakfast he is intent on increasing participation in the country's capacity market.

CENACE and CAISO announced an agreement to explore the benefits of having Baja California Norte join the Energy Imbalance Market (EIM).

With its electricity demand projected to grow 3%-4% annually and off-peak prices as high as $65/MWh, the Mexico energy market presents an appealing target to generation developers.
