The transmission companies behind a major project to preemptively build two offshore wind interconnection points in New England have submitted their first FERC filings for the project.

The six New England states have submitted two applications for federal funding for transmission projects aimed at improving grid reliability and enabling the interconnection of clean energy resources.

SPP and MISO plan to apply for grants from the Department of Energy to help fund five transmission projects recently identified in their JTIQ work.
