PJM is planning a system-wide drill Sept. 23 to simulate simultaneous physical attacks on critical substations, cyber attacks and loss of SCADA.

Last month's GridEX II security drill was a valuable test of PJM’s emergency response procedures but lacked in realism, participants said.

More than 1,800 people from 200 industry and government organizations, including PJM, took part in NERC’s 2-day cyber and physical security drill Nov 13-14.
