Talen and Amazon Web have entered into a PPA for the Susquehanna nuclear generator to supply 1.9 GW to the tech company.

FERC approved settlements on reliability must run deals that will keep the Brandon Shores Generating Station and the H.A. Wagner Generating Station in Maryland running until May 31, 2029.

Stakeholders urged FERC to consider reliability and consumer costs when weighing approaches to co-located large loads.

In comments on a FERC investigation, PJM said there are several pathways to bolster the ability for large consumers to benefit from co-locating with generators.

Even if demand forecasts from new data centers are twice as large as what ends up being built, the growth is going to be at a scale where the power industry’s regulations need to change to keep up with it, former FERC Commissioner Allison Clements said.

PJM's Transmission Expansion Advisory Committee heard a presentation about the preliminary 2029 congestion results in the 2024/25 Base Case.

"Deep, collaborative partnerships combined with creative problem-solving are the only way we can meet the explosion of AI growth, as well as society's accelerating electricity demand," said Sheldon Kimber, CEO of Intersect Power.

Pennsylvania regulators hosted several panels to discuss PJM's tightening reserve margins and how the PUC should respond to the situation, which at least promises more high prices in the near future before new supplies can come online.
